ICE CORED MORAINE
Muldrow Glacier, Denali National Park

When a glacier begins to retreat, large masses of ice can become stagnant near the terminus. If overlying till is thick enough, it will insulate this stagnant ice, increasing the time it takes the ice to melt. Once the ice melts,  hummocky terrain  often results.
